This site's carbon footprint
Every website you visit has a carbon cost. Data doesn’t move for free; it takes electricity to serve a page, send it across networks, and render it on your screen. Most sites never think about their carbon footprint. This one does.
This page loads at 0.15 g of CO₂ per visit: cleaner than 90% of web pages tested, based on the Sustainable Web Design methodology.
Why this matters
A heavier website means more data is transferred, more server processing, more energy is burnt, and most of that energy still comes from fossil fuels somewhere in the chain. Multiply a bloated page by thousands of visits a month and the numbers add up fast. A leaner, faster site isn’t just better for your visitors; it’s better for the planet running it.

How I got here
This isn’t an accident. It’s the result of deliberate technical decisions:
Hosting on renewable energy. This site is hosted with a provider certified by the Green Web Foundation, running on 100% renewable electricity. HostPresto’s Green hosting.
A lean, purpose-built codebase. No bloated page builder, no unnecessary plugins. Custom PHP theme, hand-written CSS, only the JavaScript that’s actually needed, and even that’s deferred until it’s required.
Optimised assets. Images are served in modern formats (WebP), critical CSS is inlined so the page renders fast without blocking, and non-critical stylesheets are deferred until after first paint.
Aggressive caching. Server-level caching (LiteSpeed) combined with a CDN (Cloudflare) means most requests never have to do the heavy lifting twice.
No dead weight. Regular audits strip out anything that’s not earning its place: trackers, scripts, fonts, and images that don’t serve a purpose.

What this means for your site
If your website is slow, this is usually why, and it’s usually fixable. A faster site is a lighter site, a lighter site is a cheaper site to run, and it ranks better too. Carbon reduction, page speed, and SEO all point the same direction. Fix one, you tend to fix the others.
